chain or belt?

I bought a Subaru Forester Premium last week,The sale man told me from 2011 on ,the forester no longer need to replace the timing belt,because its use timing chain from now on.I bought the car with AWP plus #2 option for $26,755.00 OTD .I bought it at St,Paul MN.I think I paid too much for the car,what do you think ?
